Juniors

WA Volleyball Junior League (WAVJL)

Northern Stars is proud to run one of Perth’s most development-focused junior volleyball programs. With a strong history of nurturing young talent, our junior pathway is designed to support athletes from their very first touches all the way through to competitive volleyball.

For athletes in high school (Years 7–12). Our junior teams compete in the WA Volleyball Junior League (WAVJL), held on Friday nights during Terms 2 & 3 across various Perth venues. Teams are grouped by school year level (Year 7/8, Year 9/10, and Year 11/12). It’s a great pathway for players building their volleyball skills and experience.

Our priority is building strong foundations in every young athlete—not just in skill, but in confidence, teamwork, and a genuine love for the game. We believe great athletes are developed over time through positive coaching, consistent guidance, and an environment where players feel supported to learn and grow.

For more advanced junior athletes (typically 16+), there is also the opportunity to play in the WA Volleyball League (WAVL), an open-age competition graded by skill level. WAVL games are generally played on Sundays at venues across the Perth metro area, with occasional travel to regional locations such as Mandurah, Bunbury, or Busselton. The season also runs through school holidays and offers a more competitive playing environment.

At Northern Stars, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and development driven environment where juniors are encouraged to work hard, be brave, have fun, and grow into confident young athletes.

Expressions of interest to play open during the off-season. Follow our social media pages to stay updated!

Junior Volley Program

Junior Volley is a step up from Kids Volley and can also serve as a great starting point for brand-new players. Designed for students aged 13–17, the program helps develop core volleyball skills in a fun and engaging environment. Participants are introduced to standard volleyball rules to build their understanding of the game while continuing to progress technically.

Sessions are run during school terms by fully accredited Volleyball WA coaches. All players need to bring is themselves and a water bottle. Once ready, participants are encouraged to transition into a club program to continue their volleyball journey. Learn more about Junior Volley via volleyballwa.com.au/junior-volley
